During a campaign speech, Modi accused the government’s main opposition, the Indian National Congress (INC), of sharing the country’s wealth with “infiltrators” and “those who have more children”.

The term “infiltrators” is thought to refer to Muslims in the country. Modi’s speech then sparked criticism from many parties, especially the Muslim community in the country.

Some Muslims said Modi’s statement was hate speech targeted at Muslims.

The head of the Indian Congress, Mallikarjun Kharge, even said that Modi’s comments were inappropriate for a head of state.

“In the history of India, no prime minister has degraded the dignity of his office as Modi has done,” said Kharge.

The following is Modi’s complete statement during his campaign in Rajasthan.

When (INC) is in power, they will say that Muslims have the first right to resources.

They will collect all your wealth and distribute it to those who have more children. They will distribute it to the intruders.

Would you be willing to give your hard-earned money to intruders?
