Riyadh – The Board of Directors of the King Salman Park Foundation inaugurated the longest tunnel in the Middle East. This also indicates that the construction of this tunnel is complete and ready for operation.

Quoted from the Saudi Arabian news agency, Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Friday (1/3/2024), the longest tunnel in the Middle East is a project of the King Salman Park Foundation by connecting the old and new tunnels. The aim is to smooth traffic and reduce congestion in Riyadh.

The plan to build this tunnel was first reported by the Custodian of the Holy Mosque, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, on March 19 2019. Then, the project began when it entered the third quarter of 2021.

The tunnel built in Riyadh was named Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. This building can be accessed by vehicles starting Thursday, February 29 2024.

According to reports Saudi Gazettethe Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq tunnel stretches 2.43 km from north to south directly under the King Salman Park area.

This long tunnel consists of a newly built tunnel that is 1.59 km long and then connected to an existing tunnel that is 840 meters long along Jalan Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq. In addition, there are three vehicle lanes in each direction to reduce traffic jams.
