Snow Alert Issued for Lecco: Whether Forecast for January 23rd – 25th
A yellow alert for snow has been issued for the Lecco area, effective from 2:00 PM today, Friday, January 23rd, until 12:00 PM on Saturday, January 24th. The alert, designated as a “common criticality” by the Lombardy Region, anticipates a drop in temperatures and the arrival of a weather disturbance bringing snowfall to relatively low altitudes.
Weather Evolution – January 23rd
Lombardy is experiencing a brief period of instability with widespread, light to vrey light precipitation, primarily as snow in higher elevations. Initial snowfall will affect northern areas and the Apennines. The freezing level is currently around 1,000 meters, with snow expected between 800-900 meters.However, localized temperature inversions could bring weak snowfall to lower altitudes, down to 400-500 meters.
A stronger weather system will impact the entire region this afternoon, with the heaviest accumulations expected in the western areas.The snow line will drop to 300-500 meters in central and western sectors, and 800-900 meters in eastern areas.
Specifically, in western areas including Valchiavenna, the varese Prealps, the Como-Lecco Prealps, and the Bergamo Prealps, localized snowfall up to 5-7 cm is possible below 600 meters. Up to 15-20 cm could accumulate between 600 and 1,200 meters in the same areas. Below 300 meters and in the western plains, weak snow or sleet is possible, notably in the evening, though notable accumulation is unlikely.

Lecco will experience very cloudy skies with light rain in the morning, clearing temporarily in the afternoon. Light rain is expected to return in the evening, with a predicted rainfall of 8 mm. The high temperature will be 6°C, with a low of 2°C. The freezing level will be at 1,083 meters. Winds will be light from the north in the morning,becoming light from the west-southwest in the afternoon. No weather alerts are currently in effect.
