Microsoft enters into a multi-year partnership with French artificial intelligence startup Mistral AI. This is what Microsoft reveals on its website. No financial details were disclosed.

According to the British business newspaper Financial Times, the American company is taking a small stake in Mistral. The collaboration between the two firms will focus, among other things, on research and development in AI. “We are delighted about this collaboration with Microsoft,” said Arthur Mensch, CEO of Mistral, in a statement. ‘Together, we are committed to advancing the AI industry and delivering significant value to our customers and partners around the world.’

Microsoft is a major player in the field of AI. This is how the technology group has a strong stake in ChatGPT’s parent company, OpenAI. For its part, Mistral had already announced in December that it had raised hundreds of millions of dollars in investments. This makes it one of the leading AI firms in Europe. The value of the company, founded in May last year, was then estimated at 2 billion euros. Its three French founders all gained experience within large American technology companies, including Meta, the parent company of Facebook, among others.
