On February 13, 2023, a 27-year-old man was murdered in Malå in Västerbotten. Three masked people then entered the man’s home and stabbed him about 20 times.
– I’m not ready to die yet, sade the man in the hospital before he died from his injuries.
In July last year, three people were convicted of murder – two of them were William Ahlqvist, 23, and his mother Marlene Ahlqvist, 43.
William Ahlqvist was sentenced to life imprisonment. He is now placed in Kumla according to a decision from the Prison Service.

Kumla is one of seven prisons with security class 1 – the highest security class among Swedish prisons.
The correctional service assesses that the risk of escape and release is medium for the 23-year-old, so is the risk that he uses threats and violence or that he is guilty of other serious misconduct or other criminality.
At the end of March, the Correctional Service took decision that the mother Marlene Ahlqvist, who was sentenced to 16 years in prison for murder, should be placed at Hinseberg. It is a women’s prison with security class 2.
A total of four people were convicted in connection with the murder, all within the same family constellation. A 50-year-old man was sentenced to 1.5 years in prison for aggravated protection of a criminal and a minor boy was sentenced to three years in closed youth care for murder.
