The company obtained financing of 100 million, in a round led by two of its shareholders: the French from Antin and the discreet Arié family. With more than five thousand electric car charging points, the company wants to reach 15 thousand in the next two years.

Powerdot announced this Thursday that it has raised 100 million euros in funding with the aim of investing 260 million euros by 2025.

With more than five thousand charging points in 1,300 locations, the company wants to reach 15,000 in the next two years in more than 1,400 locations. Powerdot operates in Portugal, France, Belgium, Spain and Poland, with more than 140 employees. In addition to expanding infrastructure, the objective is also to develop technology and strengthen partnerships.

The financing was led by two of its shareholders: the French from Antin Infrastructure Partners, a private equity company focused on infrastructure with more than 30 billion euros of assets under management, and the Portuguese from Arié Group, a very discreet business group that owns , for example, from Perfumes & Companhia.

The points will be installed in the five countries where the company operates, divided between: Portugal (€30 million), Spain (€30 million), France (€153 million), Belgium (€5 million) and Poland (€42 million)

“This transaction confirms Powerdot’s success and enormous potential in the electric vehicle charging market. With more than 5,000 operational charging points and more than 10,000 under implementation, we are poised for sustained growth and to lead the transition to more accessible and efficient electric mobility. This investment by Antin Infrastructure Partners and Arié Group will allow us to expand our network, improve technological resources and contribute to the continuous evolution of sustainable mobility”, said in a statement, says Luís Santiago Pinto, CEO of Powerdot.

The Portuguese company recorded a 201% increase in operational charging points in 2023 and a 218% increase in kWh consumption.

Powerdot currently operates more than 5,000 charging points in approximately 1,300 locations, with plans to install 10,000 charging points in more than 1,400 locations. This funding will be directed towards expanding the company’s charging infrastructure, advancing technology and strengthening partnerships to create a seamless experience for electric vehicle users across Europe.

Portugal: More than 1,300 charging points in more than 500 locations. “In 2023, the company became the largest national Charging Point Operator (OPC) in fast and ultra-fast charging points, reinforcing its position as a reference for partners and users.”

France: The company operates “more than 3,700 charging points in more than 680 locations, consolidating itself as the fastest growing OPC in France”.

Spain: “More than 1,300 charging points contracted in 200 locations, of which more than 300 were activated in 2023. The launch of Autocharge reinforced the company’s position in the Spanish market.

Poland: “Powerdot has established a strategic partnership with the supermarket chain Biedronka to triple Poland’s fast and ultra-fast charging network. The company operates 230 charging points across 125 locations, with plans for significant expansion in 2024.”

Belgium: “The company is boosting its growth in the Belgian market, currently having five sites in operation, equipped with charging points, and more than 20 under construction. Additionally, the company has outlined plans to reach more than 200 locations in the coming years.”

The Arié group was founded in 1954 by Roudolph Arié and is “currently the main integrated player in the Portuguese selective perfumery and cosmetics retail market. Since the 2000s, the Arié Family has been diversifying its portfolio, achieving significant exposure in real estate, food and beverages, haute cuisine and, more recently, next generation investments in the electric mobility sector”, according to the statement.
