After the authorities captured Giovanny Andrés Díaz, 31, identified as allegedly responsible for the murder of Jerónimo Angulo, his three-year-old stepson, the Attorney General’s Office formed a special agency to intervene in the investigation. The minor had been reported missing last Wednesday by Angulo himself and a day later he was found dead.

The news was confirmed by the attorney herself, Margarita Cabello. “What happened to the minor murdered in Fusagasugá is not possible. That is why I ordered that a special agent who is the criminal judicial prosecutor of Fusagasugá be appointed to intervene in the hearings on March 8.”

Giovanny Andrés Díaz was captured last Thursday, March 7, in the municipality of Fusagasugá, through an operation coordinated between the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office, the Gaula and the National Police. The subject, who appears as the main suspect in the death of the minor, will have to answer before a judge of guarantees as the presumed person responsible for the crime of aggravated homicide. Although Díaz had been detained preventively at the Fusagasugá police station since the night of March 6, it was not until this Thursday morning that the authorities made his capture official.

The case dates back to last Wednesday, when Giovanny Andrés Díaz reported him missing and indicated that the little boy was outside his home playing with another child, apparently his brother, but his versions began to change. He first pointed out that he went to the store with another minor, Jerónimo’s sister, and that when he returned, there was no trace of the child, but then he indicated that, apparently, the child’s father had taken him. Finally, in the third version given by the main suspect, he said that the minor had been kidnapped by individuals, who took him aboard a gray car, which is why the investigation was initially assumed by Gaula.

All these versions fell apart when the authorities found a video of the moment in which the minor’s stepfather, 31 years old, walks through the streets of the Carlos Lleras neighborhood, with a tarp in which, presumably, the child’s body would be. which was found approximately 24 hours after said search. This is the main evidence against him.
