The T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas will be the venue for the fight in which two Mexicans will be competing for multiple world championships

For the first time, two Mexicans will be competing for four world titles when the man from Guadalajara Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez expose the undisputed Super Middleweight championship against the undefeated Tijuana native Jaime Munguia on May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, sources told ESPN.

‘Canelo’ Alvarez33 years old and with a record of 60-2-2 with 39 knockouts, will once again star on a weekend of May 5 in Las Vegas for the first time in two years, after the defeat against Dmitry Bivol. Jaime Munguia27 years old and 43-0 with 34 knockouts, will have his first world championship battle for the first time in more than four years after leaving the Super Welterweight belt.

According to sources, it is a one-fight agreement between ‘Canelo’ Álvarez and PBC, who last week terminated a three-fight agreement with two fights still remaining.

‘Canelo’ Álvarez has won his last three fights in a row since his unexpected defeat by unanimous decision against Dmitry Bivol on May 7, 2022.

‘Canelo’ Álvarez’s recent triumphs were against Gennady Golovkin – to close his trilogy -, John Ryder and Jermell Charlo.

For his part, Jaime Munguía is coming off a resounding victory over John Ryder, knocking him out after knocking him down multiple times.

‘Canelo’ Álvarez’s last knockout victory was on November 6, 2021 when he defeated Caleb Plant to become absolute champion at 168 pounds as owner of the World Council, World Association, World Organization and International Boxing Federation belts.

Jaime Munguía, for his part, has finished four of his last five fights on the fast track. The only fight to go the full route in that span was his dominant wide unanimous decision victory over the experienced Sergiy Derevyanchenko.
