Swiss president invites Putin to meet with Zelensky and Biden –

Swiss President Viola Amherd wrote a letter of invitation to her Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, inviting him “to dialogue in difficult times”, at a time when a major peace conference in Ukraine, organized by the authorities in Bern, is being prepared.

A spokesman for the Swiss Ministry of Defense confirmed the sending of the letter, in which Amherd explains to Putin Switzerland’s position on respect for international law, human rights and the universal principles set out in the founding charter of the United Nations, which he proposes to use as a basis in the search for peace.

Switzerland has called an international peace conference for mid-June, which will be attended by the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, and which may also include the presence of the North American head of state, Joe Biden, among other world leaders.

However, Russia was not invited to this high-level meeting, which Putin himself criticized after noting that nothing can be decided regarding the war in Ukraine without Moscow’s participation.
