“Klauģu muiža” was registered in 2011, the share capital of the company is 2845 euros. The owner of the company is Abacus (Cyprus) Limited, registered in Cyprus, but the real beneficiary is Avens.

It has already been announced that Aven is named in the European Union (EU) sanctions list as one of the oligarchs closest to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who has actively provided material or financial support to Russian decision-makers responsible for the annexation of Crimea or the destabilization of Ukraine, and benefited from them. . He promised to challenge these accusations in court.

In February 2023, the TV3 program “Nothing personal” announced that not only bank assets were frozen for Aven in Latvia, but also real estate in Riga, on Krišjāņa Valdemāra street, where he was going to exhibit his porcelain and art collection. Likewise, almost 60 hectares in Lazdon parish, and his modern Klauģi manor with several buildings and a helicopter landing pad. Properties are also encumbered elsewhere in Europe – the Italian police have seized Aven’s partially owned villa in Sardinia, his property in London has been frozen.

The TV3 program explains that Aven is not prohibited from entering Latvia, because he is not only a citizen of Russia, but also a citizen of Latvia. It is true that at one time the investigation into the circumstances of Avena’s citizenship was conducted by the Corruption Prevention and Combating Office. The case was closed without finding any bribery, but revealing special favoritism by the leadership of the Directorate of Citizenship and Migration Affairs towards Avena.

Last year, after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, discussions began about whether Aven should be allowed to keep his citizenship. Last year in April, the Saeima adopted amendments on the revocation of Latvian citizenship from dual citizens who have provided various types of support to aggressor countries.
