There will be no BlizzCon this year – we found out why!

#BlizzCon #year

The Blizzard gathering planned for 2024 will not be held, and we can already see wording from Microsoft-owned Blizzard Entertainment that does not bode well for the event.

Blizzard has announced that BlizzCon 2024 will be cancelled, but is excited to “bring back” the event in future years. We seem to have seen similar wording at E3…but let’s see what the announcement says: “After careful consideration over the past year, we have decided not to host BlizzCon in 2024. We didn’t make this decision lightly, as BlizzCon remains a very special event for all of us, and we know many of you are looking forward to it. While we’re taking a different approach this year, and having explored other event formats in the past, rest assured that we’re as excited as ever to host BlizzCon again in the years to come.

In the coming months, we’ll be sharing more details about our new releases throughout the year, including World of Warcraft: The War Within and the first expansion for Diablo IV, Vessel of Hatred. To celebrate these upcoming releases and to bring our communities together in new and special ways, we’ll soon be sharing some exciting plans for other industry shows and conventions like Gamescom. We look forward to hearing more about these plans soon. We’re also looking forward to the Overwatch Champions Series coming to Dreamhack Dallas and Dreamhack Stockholm. And we’re excited to plan more global, in-person, in-person events to celebrate Warcraft’s 30th anniversary, in addition to in-game celebrations, across our Warcraft games in 2024. While these events are different from BlizzCon, we use all of our creativity and imagination to ensure they share the same spirit of celebration and togetherness.

We hope these experiences (along with many live industry events where we’ll keep you updated on what’s happening in our gaming universes) capture the essence of what makes the Blizzard community so special. However you want to connect with us at this year’s events (in person or virtually), we can’t wait to have you there!” Blizzard wrote.

This sounds more like game over to us. With noble simplicity, Microsoft also grinds Blizzard’s games into the Xbox Games Showcase broadcasts…
