Will PiS help Daniel Obajtek start his political career in the European Parliament? PiS MP Marlena Maląg evaded answering this question, but mysteriously assured that the president of Orlen “kept his promise.”
At the press conference, the former Minister of Labor, Family and Social Policy was asked whether PiS would support Daniel Obajtek on his way to the European Parliament. She replied quite evasively.
– Once again, Law and Justice, and here, above all, President Daniel Obajtek, kept their word. After all, it was President Obajtek who said that he himself would resign. He made himself available to the supervisory board and the decision was made, said the former minister.
The MEP did not add that the president of Orlen promised to resign as soon as the opposition comes to power. Several weeks have passed since then.
– Today, first of all, a big thank you to the management board, led by President Daniel Obajtek, and to the supervisory board for their good actions. First of all, good actions for Poland, she added.

Orlen announced on Thursday that the company’s supervisory board decided to dismiss Daniel Obajtek from the Orlen management board as of February 5, 2024.

Daniel Obajtek has been the president of the management board and CEO of Orlen since February 6, 2018. Previously, he served as the president of the management board of the Energa Group and headed the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture. In the years 2002–2006 Obajtek was a councilor of the Pcim commune, and in the years 2006–2015 he was the mayor.
During the presidency of Daniel Obajtek, several mergers took place, including: to the merger of Orlen and Grupa Lotos, which is controversial.
