A payment arrears at the tax authorities have been fatal for the Leeuwarden advertising agency Eigen & Wijze Communicatie. Curator Romana Bremer is heading for a new start.

The bankruptcy affects ten employees. “I haven’t spoken to them yet, but I understood from the owner that they are all very disappointed,” says Bremer.

The advertising agency started operating teletext services in Friesland, Drenthe and Groningen in 1993 under the name Teletext Media. The agency also published the Internet Courant. The news broadcasts for Happy Radio, on the air between 2003 and 2009, also came from Leeuwarden.

Neuromarketing

Today, Nicolaas Hühl’s company serves as online marketers. In 2010, Eigen & Wijze Communicatie started to specialize in neuromarketing. With the help of behavioral psychology, the specialists hope to show internet users the way to their clients.

From a building on Emmakade, the agency serves a variety of customers such as waffle bakery Helwa in Hallum, Mannen van Staal in Leeuwarden and the municipality of Groningen. “There are enough ongoing assignments,” says the curator.

“And we will continue with that,” Bremer reports. “Several parties have already registered for a takeover.” Eigen & Wijze Communicatie ran into problems when the tax authorities started collecting again.

“It concerns tax payments deferred due to corona,” the curator explains. She would not reveal the amount of the debt. “It is not a very high amount.”
