They are looking for doctors for the Outer Hebrides in Great Britain for 150,000 pounds a year, or almost HUF 70 million, reports the Guardian. This is considered a record payment in public health care, but there is a good reason for this: this is one of the most abandoned areas of the country, where the last doctor recently resigned.

The archipelago is located to the west of Northern Scotland, and the shortage of doctors in this area is increasing anyway, but the problem with the archipelago is so bad that it is feared that even the few people who still live there will move away. They now want to place at least five doctors in the counties of Uist and Benbecula. A total of barely five thousand people live in the two areas.

The situation is not helped by the fact that the housing crisis has already reached this region, the rents are constantly rising, the majors are being converted into apartment buildings, and more and more well-to-do retirees are looking for a home here, which also raises prices. Meanwhile, the surgeries on the island are overcrowded and operate in poor conditions.

The associated salary is 40% higher than the Scottish average, to which they also add a contribution for working on remote islands and for moving costs. For all this, they even get 41 days of vacation a year.
