Investment will be directed to the green hydrogen production project in Sines with a capacity of 630 megawatts and a global investment of around 650 million euros, revealed João Wahnon, director of Fusion Fuel to JE.

Fusion Fuel, a Portuguese company that trades on Wall Street, will receive European money for its green hydrogen project in Sines, whose investment reaches 650 million euros and is scheduled until 2029.

The decision was announced on Thursday by the European Commission and in this Friday’s edition, Fusion Fuel revealed to JE which project is in question. “This is a green hydrogen production project in Sines with a capacity of 630 megawatts and a global investment of around 650 million euros,” João Wahnon, founder of the company, told JE.

“The green hydrogen will be exported in the form of green ammonia from the port of Sines to Rotterdam. The deadline for commissioning the project will be 2029,” the official added.

Asked about the value of the European funding, he said that it cannot yet be revealed and that he is awaiting notification from Brussels. The company has developed its own technology to produce green hydrogen: Hevo-Solar, a photovoltaic solar module that powers 288 small electrolysers (Hevo) with the total capacity to produce one ton of green hydrogen annually using solar energy alone.
