Afrobasket: Aníbal Moreira and Miguel Lutonda take leadership of the team in the qualifying zone –

Former basketball players Aníbal Moreira and Miguel Lutonda, now as coaches, will assume technical command of the senior men’s national team in the sport, in the first window of qualification for next year’s African basketball championship, Afrobasket 2025, which Tunisia will host .

The information was made public this Tuesday in Luanda, through a statement released by the Angolan Basketball Federation (FAB). The reason is due to the unavailability of coach Pep Cláros, for family reasons.

The games take place on the 23rd, 24th and 25th of February.

“Pep Clarós is facing a difficult time due to his father’s health condition, which is why he needs to support his family at this delicate moment”, writes the federation, which adds that “in this sense, the FAB announces that whoever will assume the functions as selector during Pep Clarós’ absence, will be coach Aníbal Moreira, supported by his assistant, Miguel Lutonda”.

The decision aims to guarantee the continuity and stability of the national team in this decisive period.

The FAB expresses its understanding for the personal reasons that led to Pep Cláros’ absence and thanks in advance for the readiness and professionalism demonstrated by coaches Aníbal Moreira and Miguel Lutonda.

The commitment to the development and success of national basketball will be continuous on the part of FAB, always counting on the support and understanding of everyone involved.
