Romilde van Dongen (41) is a reporter at RTL Boulevard and likes to write about love, dating and singles. She enjoys dating programs on television and makes no secret of her opinion. This season she is ready for an afterword about the yes words in ‘Married at First Sight’.

The experts at Married at First Sight must have had busy weeks during the candidates’ honeymoons. Although, with Dirk and Anneke’s, expert Eveline was able to return home within two days. After a final argument, Anneke and Dirk finally left for the airport. What a misery. Then Sarath and Malou kept it civil and made it fun. I’m starting to prepare more and more for a season with zero matches. Because I also see the first cracks developing in Jerney and Jeffrey. And will the flame spread between Gerben and Erik? Or with David and Kim? I doubt it.

What can be made of the bond between Anneke and Dirk? Nothing at all. See Dirk walking across beautiful Madeira, with his soul under his arm. So sad. Anneke would prefer to leave the island with screeching tires. But first she has a chat with expert Eveline. “I have indicated my limits,” says Anneke proudly. “That may seem harsh to someone, but it was just necessary.”

Does Anneke still feel a certain emotion about this? No: “It’s a closed book.” But Eveline makes one last attempt to get through to Anneke. “I feel like you didn’t really give the experiment a chance.” Anneke doesn’t agree with that: she thinks so. And she also thinks that ‘in principle’ she always shines. Sigh.

If I were Eveline I wouldn’t know what to do with this either. “I want to go home,” says Dirk. I completely understand that. How would that work: Dirk and Anneke get on the same plane home? One in the front, the other in the back? Or will someone catch a later flight? “I don’t want to see Dirk anymore,” Anneke announces. Oh dear. So that will be that flight later. I feel sorry for the production team on site. What a hassle.

Marlou and Sarath have completely found each other again. After all the tough conversations, they decide to ‘go drinking’. They go into the pub and then Malou has a brilliant idea: “Let’s think of it as a first date,” she suggests. What is your favorite color, simple questions like that. I think it’s a brilliant plan. When I see Sarath and Malou sitting like this, I understand very well that they are matched. Blinking along with Mariah Carey in the car, beaming with pride in their elf hats and in ecstasy when they get to meet the real ‘Santa’. What fun those two have together. “This is our path, it may not always be chic, but I support it,” says Malou. I think that’s very strong of her. When they see the Northern Lights dancing before their eyes, I am even jealous for a moment. Sarath approaches and lays his head on Malous’ shoulder. A beautiful picture to see, but yes, we have to wait for the next eruption.

There was never a cloud in the sky for Jerney and Jeffrey and that still seems to be the case. They like each other and something has even happened in the bedroom. You might think that you can’t do anything about it anymore. But to my surprise, Jeffrey appears to find it all a bit boring: “The click is there, the question is whether it will become more.” Huh? Isn’t it more than that, Jeffrey? I wonder if Jerney surrendered to Jeffrey a little too quickly. There is nothing wrong with her.

And yes, that’s where Jeffrey’s first irritations arise: “I would have liked to see Jerney show a little more initiative.” Is this the turning point between them? It’s a hard feeling for Jerney when she hears those words from her husband. And she in turn notices that he withdraws a little: “In the evening it is nice and cozy in the room and then I notice that it is a little less during the day.” According to Jeffrey, this is not conscious. Hmm… Why do I have the feeling that there is more to him?

The distance between Bastiaan and Suzanne becomes larger and larger. If Bastiaan is having trouble sleeping, Suzanne suggests trying the other bed. That suits her, of course. Bastiaan prefers to lie next to Suzanne: “I like lying next to you,” he repeats twice. It doesn’t matter to Suzanne: “Sleeping is sleeping.” That’s not exactly what you want to hear your new wife say. With expert Patrick, Suzanne finally dares to say it like it is: “I don’t like him enough yet.” Finally, the word is out! “If you are open and honest with each other, your relationship has a chance,” Patrick advises.

A joint adrenaline activity provides a bright spot on the horizon. They are going jet skiing and Bastiaan is an experienced jet skier. Now he can finally show his wife what a tough guy he is. But oh well, the jet ski is constantly malfunctioning. After going very fast for a while, they are now just bobbing around. How painful. This should have been the moment for Bastiaan to shine. Suzanne is not impressed. And the hug on the back of the jet ski is “fully functional” for her. I leave it to expert Patrick to make something of this.
