The Ceuster-Bonache Cycling Team must look for a new coach. Rob Peeters is resigning from his position, the Belgian women’s team has confirmed. The 38-year-old former cyclo-cross rider is also active as an independent painter and will focus fully on that.

“My agenda is not yet full, but a number of larger painting jobs have been added that I don’t yet know when I will be able to complete them. These assignments may continue for a while into the winter months. Because I don’t like ‘uncertainty’ myself, I have already made the decision and decided not to extend the collaboration with the team,” Peeters told the Belga news agency.

The vice world champion from Koksijde (2012) had the revived Laura Verdonschot, Suzanne Verhoeven and Alicia Franck under his wing at De Ceuster-Bonache, but is leaving after one season. “It was a great opportunity to get back in touch with cyclo-cross in my first year as a coach.”

No goodbye
“With a ‘women’s team’, which was also a new, unique experience for me, allowing me to meet many people with whom I could share my knowledge. I look back on the past few months with a good feeling. No idea what the future will bring, but this certainly leaves you wanting more. My ambition is to return to the field in the long term.”

“In recent months it has become clear to me and those around me that the passion and love for racing and cyclocross is still very great. First we focus on the painting works, but we will come back.”
