Recently, netizens were shocked by the confession of a woman who has 19 children and is currently pregnant with her 20th child. The woman named Martha from Medellin, Colombia, is still planning a pregnancy in the future.
She admitted that she would not stop being pregnant until her body was no longer capable of carrying a pregnancy. Martha admitted that all her children came from different men.
There are 17 of Martha’s children who are under the age of 18. Martha admitted that she received financial assistance from the government even though the amount was relatively small.
“Having more children is ‘beneficial’,” he explained in the Daily Star, quoted on Sunday (3/3/2024).
“Actually, when the government helps me for each child, I receive a little money for each child,” explained the 39-year-old woman.
Are the Risks?
Sex expert Dr Boyke Dian Nugraha explained that this is certainly medically risky. There is a possibility that the person concerned will experience post-partum bleeding.
“There are definitely risks, it could increase post-partum bleeding,” said Dr Boyke when contacted by detikcom Sunday (3/3).
This condition occurs due to the uterus not contracting properly, and the placenta previa or placenta blocking the birth canal.
In general, postpartum hemorrhage can be identified from the occurrence of various symptoms such as:
- Excessive loss of bright red blood through the vagina after delivery.
- Pain in the lower abdomen.
- Fever.
The heart rate and blood pressure of people with this disease will be monitored to see if there is shock. If early postpartum bleeding occurs, the doctor will feel the lower abdomen to see if the uterus is contracting. If the uterus appears to be contracting but bleeding continues, the cervix and vagina will be examined. This is done under general anesthesia or epidural anesthesia.
Martha is not the only woman who has had more than 10 children and has become the focus of many people’s attention. Last year, a single mother of 13 children went viral after revealing that she needed help buying a house for her children.
